"30" mph speed limit road sign, re-imagined in the colours of Ayrton Senna's helmet and the McLaren MP4/4

£250.00

This is a genuine, de-commissioned 30 mph Road Sign hand-painted in the colours of the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 and Ayrton Senna’s helmet and then aged to show some of the original colours and reflective parts of the original road sign underneath.

It measures approx. 24 inches / 60cm round.

This was the car that Senna won his first Formula 1 World Championship in. He had 13 pole positions and won 8 races in the 1988 season, in a McLaren powered by a Honda V6, 1494cc engine. With his team mate Alain Prost winning 7 races, the MP4/4 claimed all but one pole position and won all but one race that season, with McLaren winning the 1988 Constructors Title.

Senna’s helmet design was inspired by his Brazilian homeland. The yellow, green and blue design debuted during his karting day’s in the late 1970’s and was designed by Cloacyr Sidney Fly, better known as Sid Mosca.
